Quinta da Roêda Vintage 2004

Choose the year:

Quinta da Roêda is the cornerstone of Croft’s reputation as a producer of superb Vintage Ports. Its characteristically plump, full, vigorously fruity wines, with their hallmark
aroma of Gumcistus, the aromatic bush, are the quintessence of the inimitable Croft house style.

Tasting Notes: Characteristic complexity of spices and clove aromas seduce the senses, with fat, ripe raisins, fresh fruity raspberry, gumcistus and violet undertones. A rich opulent wine with great tannic structure. Dark plums, blackberry jam, raspberry and spice flavours on the mouth; finishing with dark bitter chocolate that stays in the palate forever.

viticultural year and harvest

The 2003/2004 winter was very dry, having only rained 1/3 of the quantity registered the previous winter. The lack of water during the early part of the growing season led to very little pressure from disease. The main concern in July was mainly one of doubting the vines capacity to ripen the grapes due to the drastic shortage of water.

The vintage stood out for the perfect weather conditions for the whole period. The young Ports show good structure with very fresh berry fruit aromas, resulting from the cooler than normal ripening period.

"A balanced, fruity young vintage Port, with licorice, mineral and blackberry character. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a caressing finish. Not big, but nicely done. Best after 2011"

"Um equilibrado, jovem e frutado Porto vintage, com alcaçuz, mineral e carácter de mirtilhos. Medianamente encorpado, com delicados taninos e final acariciador. Não é grande, mas lindamente bem produzido. Consumir preferentemente depois de 2011"
